British Association for Romantic Studies - BARS - Previous Events

Welcome to BARS

The British Association for Romantic Studies (BARS) was set up in 1989 by academics to promote the study of the cultural history of the Romantic period. Since then, BARS has organised eight International conferences at various locations in the UK, has published the BARS Bulletin and Review twice-yearly, and currently has more than 350 members.

Midlands Interdisciplinary Victorian Seminar and Midlands Romantic Seminar (13.3.04)

Below are details of the forthcoming Spring term Midlands Interdisciplinary Victorian Studies Seminar. This is a joint session, organised with the Midlands Romantic Seminar, and it aims to direct attention to the transition from Romantic to Victorian.

Saturday 13th March, 2.00 p.m.

Frances Wilson (Reading University), 'Harriet Taylor and the Death ofRomanticism'.

Gregory Dart ( University College London ), 'Leigh Hunt and Literary Skimpolism'.

All meetings take place in the Shakespeare Room, Birmingham Central Library, Chamberlain Square , Birmingham from 2.00 - 5.00 pm .
