B. Shelley\u2019s poem<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p3\">This conference will mark the bicentenary of Shelley\u2019s\u00a0<i>Revolt of Islam<\/i>, first published in 1817 as\u00a0<i>Laon and Cythna<\/i>. Papers are invited which will explore critical interpretations and reactions, or which provide close readings of the text itself. Papers focusing on historical and contextual considerations and which explore contemporary resonances will also be welcomed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><a href=\"http:\/\/romantics200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Call_for_Papers_2017_for_website_correct.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1253 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/romantics200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Call_for_Papers_2017_for_website_correct-212x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>The afternoon of 15 December has been chosen, for it was on this day in 1817 that publisher Charles Ollier met up with Thomas Love Peacock, Mary Shelley, Claire Clairmont, and Shelley himself to discuss the potentially controversial and contentious nature of Shelley\u2019s poem.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The conference is being organised by Giuseppe Albano, Curator of the Keats-Shelley House, and Maria Valentini from the University of Cassino, who will take over as Chair of the Keats-Shelley Memorial Association in Rome from June 2017.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Papers may be given in English or in Italian, and abstracts accepted in either language.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Deadline for submission of abstracts (c. 200 words):\u00a031 August 2017.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Registration fee:\u00a0\u20ac25.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">For further information on registration, and to send your abstract, please contact:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><a href=\"mailto:giuseppe.albano@ksh.roma.it\">Dr Giuseppe Albano<\/a>, Curator,<br \/>\nKeats-Shelley House, Rome<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">or<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><a href=\"mailto:gerrima@tiscali.it\">Prof.ssa Maria Valentini<\/a>, Dipartmento di Lettere e Filosofia,<br \/>\nUniversit\u00e0 di Cassino e del Lazio Meridionale<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0call for papers is now open for an exciting conference in Rome this December, hosted by the Keats-Shelley House.
