{"id":2638,"date":"2019-10-01T07:01:34","date_gmt":"2019-10-01T07:01:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bars.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=2638"},"modified":"2019-10-01T07:01:34","modified_gmt":"2019-10-01T07:01:34","slug":"the-fifteenth-annual-conference-of-the-british-society-for-literature-and-science","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bars.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=2638","title":{"rendered":"The Fifteenth Annual Conference of the British Society for Literature and Science"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 12pt;text-align: center\"><em>The fifteenth annual conference of the British Society for Literature and Science<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 12pt;text-align: center\"><em> University of Sheffield <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 12pt;text-align: center\"><em>Wednesday 15 April until Friday 17 April 2020.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 12.0pt 0cm\">Keynote speakers will be Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell (Oxford), Professor Martin Willis (Cardiff), and Professor Angela Wright (Sheffield).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 12.0pt 0cm\">The BSLS invites proposals for 20-minute papers, panels of three papers, or special roundtables on any subjects within the field of science (including medicine and technology), and literatures in the broadest sense, including theatre, film, and television.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 12.0pt 0cm\"><span style=\"color: black\">The conference will include a visit to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sheffield.ac.uk\/alfred-denny-museum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none\">Alfred Denny Zoological Museum<\/span><\/a>(pictured), and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/turnermuseum.group.shef.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none\">Turner Museum of Glass<\/span><\/a>\u00a0will host a keynote lecture and the wine reception.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 12.0pt 0cm\">Please send an abstract (200 words) and short biographical note (50 words) to Katherine Ebury and Helena Ifill at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:shefbsls2020@gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none\">shefbsls2020@gmail.com<\/span><\/a>\u00a0by no later than\u00a018.00 GMT on Thursday 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of December. Please include the abstract and biographical note in the body of the email.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 12.0pt 0cm\">The conference fee will be waived for two graduate students in exchange for written reports on the conference, to be published in the BSLS Newsletter. If you are interested in being selected for one of these awards, please mention this when sending in your proposal.
