University of Nottingham, University Park Campus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Romantic Reputations symposium team are excited to announce our free one-day interdisciplinary event at the University of Nottingham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Romantic movement continued (and continues) to resonate across time and laid the foundations for the modern world. We invite papers which speak to the theme of \u2018Romantic Reputations\u2019, interpreted however you choose. If your research discusses subjects such as science and innovation, the individual and society, and the environment and nature, contemporary discussions of these issues owes much to Romanticism. We also welcome papers responding to the theme of \u2018Reputation\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Themes which papers could address include (but are not limited to):
\u2022 The impact of issues which were prominent in the Romantic movement (science, society etc.)
\u2022 Themes of reputation in literature\/art (e.g. characters\u2019 moral reputations)
\u2022 Celebrity from the Romantic period onward
\u2022 \u2018Forgotten\u2019 figures (e.g. writers, artists, public figures)
\u2022 Adaptations and afterlives of Romantic culture
\u2022 Contemporary or historical reception of Romantic culture
\u2022 Public and\/or scholarly perception of Romantic texts\/arts, then and now
\u2022 Conceptions of the canon
As this is a PGR-run event, we would like to particularly encourage PGR\/ECR researchers to submit abstracts. We would love to hear about the research you would like to share (including works-in-progress or ideas without a \u2018home\u2019, especially following conference cancellations due to covid-19).
If you would like to give a 20-minute paper, please send a 250-word abstract (with a biography of less than 100 words) to romanticreputations@gmail.com by 1st February 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A limited number of travel bursaries will be available: please indicate on submission of your abstract if you would like to be considered for a travel bursary, detailing where you are travelling from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We very much hope that you will join us on this rescheduled date. The new deadline for abstracts is 1st February 2021 – please send abstracts of maximum 250 words for 20 minute papers to our dedicated email address: romanticreputations@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
