{"id":3484,"date":"2021-01-15T16:48:44","date_gmt":"2021-01-15T16:48:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bars.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=3484"},"modified":"2021-04-07T02:20:47","modified_gmt":"2021-04-07T02:20:47","slug":"bars-first-book-prize-2019-21-call-for-nominations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bars.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=3484","title":{"rendered":"BARS First Book Prize 2019-21: Call for Nominations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The British Association for Romantic Studies (BARS) is delighted to announce the current round of&nbsp;The British Association for Romantic Studies First Book Prize, 2019-21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Awarded&nbsp;biennially&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;best&nbsp;first&nbsp;monograph in&nbsp;Romantic&nbsp;Studies,&nbsp;this&nbsp;prize&nbsp;is&nbsp;open to first books&nbsp;published&nbsp;between&nbsp;1&nbsp;January&nbsp;2019&nbsp;and&nbsp;1&nbsp;January&nbsp;2021.  In keeping with the remit of BARS, it is designed to encourage and recognise original, ground breaking and interdisciplinary work in the literature and culture of the period c.1780-1830.  The prize&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;awarded&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;value&nbsp;of&nbsp;\u00a3250 and will&nbsp;be&nbsp;announced&nbsp;in August&nbsp;2021.  Up to three runners up will receive \u00a3100 each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Eligibility and nomination procedures<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;&nbsp;competition&nbsp;&nbsp;is&nbsp;&nbsp;open&nbsp;&nbsp;to&nbsp;&nbsp;books&nbsp;&nbsp;by&nbsp;&nbsp;authors&nbsp;&nbsp;who&nbsp;&nbsp;have&nbsp;&nbsp;not&nbsp;&nbsp;published&nbsp;&nbsp;a&nbsp;&nbsp;monograph&nbsp;before.  Authors must have&nbsp;&nbsp;been&nbsp;&nbsp;awarded their&nbsp;PhD after&nbsp;2014 (i.e. on or after 1 January 2015).  Books&nbsp;must&nbsp;be&nbsp;nominated&nbsp;through&nbsp;the BARS&nbsp;membership&nbsp;or&nbsp;by&nbsp;their publishers.&nbsp;&nbsp;A nomination form can be downloaded below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bars.ac.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/BARS-First-Book-Prize-2021.-Nomination-form.docx\">BARS First Book Prize 2021 Nomination form<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bars.ac.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/BARS-First-Book-Prize-2021.-Nomination-form.docx\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download>Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Copies&nbsp;of&nbsp;nominated&nbsp;books&nbsp;must&nbsp;be&nbsp;received&nbsp;by the committee by the closing date, 1st March, 2021.
