{"id":3491,"date":"2021-01-19T15:48:27","date_gmt":"2021-01-19T15:48:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bars.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=3491"},"modified":"2021-06-03T22:11:52","modified_gmt":"2021-06-03T22:11:52","slug":"cfp-table-talks-2-new-approaches-to-romantic-studies-and-society","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bars.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=3491","title":{"rendered":"CFP: Table Talks 2 &#8211; New Approaches to Romantic Studies and Society"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Wednesday 16th June 2021<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Table Talks\u2019, interactive workshops linked to the AHRC-funded project \u2018The Romantic Ridiculous\u2019, will continue in 2021 with a mixture of lightning talks, Q&amp;A, and conversation \u2013 this time with a focus on Romantic Studies and the idea of \u2018society\u2019, broadly considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Join Dr Andrew McInnes and Dr Felicity James for an exploration of Romantic-period conversation, collaboration, and creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We seek close readings of any aspect of \u2018society\u2019 related to Romanticism. This might include, but is not limited to:<br>\u2022 Representations of the city, urban space, the home, and\/or domesticity<br>\u2022 Representations of work, labour, and\/or economy<br>\u2022 Representations of conversation, collaboration, and\/or friendship<br>\u2022 Explorations of genres representing society, for example, Gothic fiction, silver fork<br>novels, journalistic and\/or satirical material<br>\u2022 Explorations of the anti-social<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We invite postgraduate and early career researchers to pitch a literary text to close read alongside our selections. This close reading does not have to be linked to \u2018The Romantic Ridiculous\u2019 project but should lead to a discussion of a new perspective on Romantic Studies and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have 5 x \u00a3100 bursaries for successful pitches.
