{"id":3904,"date":"2021-09-10T08:22:29","date_gmt":"2021-09-10T08:22:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bars.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=3904"},"modified":"2021-09-10T08:22:30","modified_gmt":"2021-09-10T08:22:30","slug":"cfp-table-talks-3-new-approaches-to-romantic-studies-and-youth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bars.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=3904","title":{"rendered":"CFP: Table Talks 3 &#8211; New Approaches to Romantic Studies and Youth"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Thursday 16<sup>th<\/sup> December 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Table Talks\u2019, interactive workshops linked to the AHRC-funded project \u2018The Romantic Ridiculous\u2019, will continue in 2021 with a mixture of lightning talks, Q&amp;A, and conversation \u2013 this time with a focus on Romantic Studies and the idea of \u2018youth&#8217;, broadly considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Join Dr Andrew McInnes and Dr Rita Dashwood for an exploration of Romantic-period childhood, adolescence, experience, and silliness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We seek close readings of any aspect of \u2018youth&#8217; related to Romanticism. This might include, but is not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Representations of children, childhood, youth, and adolescence<\/li><li>Representations of innocence and experience<\/li><li>Silliness in the Romantic period<\/li><li>Literature aimed at children, including poetry and drama, as well as texts about children and childhood, including medical, philosophical, and conduct books<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We invite postgraduate and early career researchers to pitch a literary text to close read alongside our selections. This close reading does not have to be linked to \u2018The Romantic Ridiculous\u2019 project but should lead to a discussion of a new perspective on Romantic Studies and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have 5 x \u00a3100 bursaries for successful pitches.
