Over the&nbsp; past years, the connotations of the \u201cpresent&#8221; and its relevance within the domain of&nbsp; Romanticism have encompassed pivotal strands ranging from reading methods and&nbsp; book histories, artifacts and cultural heritage in the digital age, visual cultures then&nbsp; and now, ecology and the Anthropocene, gender and identity, national and&nbsp; translational borders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the 20th anniversary of the Nordic Association for Romantic Studies (NARS) approaching in 2024, we welcome diverse approaches from current research in&nbsp; Romanticism that expand the material, aesthetic, historical, and disciplinary confines&nbsp; of this field. Our objective for this symposium is to provide a platform for considering&nbsp; the current position of Romanticism as a vital area of humanist inquiry and mapping its future trajectory.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We invite proposals for 10-minute paper presentations in English. Topics may include,&nbsp; but are not limited to:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Visual culture and aesthetics&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Digital humanities, archives, and resources&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Reading methods and book histories&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Traditional media and new media&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Gender and identity&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 (Re)conceptualizations of canons&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Anthropocene and ecologies&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deadline for proposals: <strong>January 26, 2024&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please send your abstract (250 words) with a short biographical note and full address&nbsp; and institutional affiliation to: peter.henning@umu.se and silvia.riccardi@umu.se.
