An Album of Victorian Murderers.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving from the Newgate Novel tradition at the beginning of the 19th century, through De Quincey\u2019s aesthetic musings on the fine art of murder, to Arthur Machen\u2019s decadent impostors\/assassins at the end of the century, via Mary Elizabeth Braddon\u2019s sensational murderers, this special issue of&nbsp;<em>Linguae&amp;<\/em>&nbsp;will present a gallery of &#8216;magnificent&#8217; murderers and their representations on stage, in songs and ballads, across the various forms of material culture and, of course, in literature and the popular press. Alongside murder and murderers, we welcome proposals looking at poisoners, torture, sacrifice, monstrous killers, corpses and their representation, gender, body horror at large, and the sundry \u201cruinations of the human subject\u201d (in the words of Kelly Hurley) that bleed across the Long Victorian Age<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authors wishing to propose a paper for this special issue should&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.uniurb.it\/index.php\/linguae\/user\/register\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">register<\/a>&nbsp;on the journal web site and upload their papers preferably in English,&nbsp;<strong>no later than 15 June 2025.&nbsp;<\/strong>See sections:&nbsp;<strong>For<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.uniurb.it\/index.php\/linguae\/libraryFiles\/downloadPublic\/67\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>&nbsp;Authors<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.uniurb.it\/index.php\/linguae\/about\/submissions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Submissions<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only papers which fully comply with the requirements will be accepted for the double-blind peer review process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Editors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ruth Heholt (Un. Special editorial topics will be advertised well in advance.
