{"id":5886,"date":"2025-03-21T16:11:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-21T16:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bars.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=5886"},"modified":"2025-03-21T16:11:00","modified_gmt":"2025-03-21T16:11:00","slug":"phd-postdoc-opportunity-johannes-gutenberg-university-mainz-three-year-pgr-and-ecr-scholarships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bars.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=5886","title":{"rendered":"PhD\/Postdoc Opportunity: Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz &#8211; three year PGR and ECR Scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Advertisement for Scholarships<br>*There is no application deadline for this opportunity*<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz announces the following scholarships within the framework of the new Mini Graduate College (MGRK)&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;The Aesthetic Inventions of Ecology around 1800&#8221;<\/strong>, funded by the Gutenberg Junior College (GNK):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4 doctoral scholarships (m\/f\/d)&nbsp;<strong>with a monthly stipend of EUR 1,550<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 postdoctoral scholarship (m\/f\/d)&nbsp;<strong>with a monthly stipend of EUR 1,900<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scholarships are for a duration of three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Excellent university degree (state examination, M.Ed., M.A., or equivalent) in German Studies, English Studies, Art History, Music Theory, or related fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An innovative project idea within the research area of MGRK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knowledge in the areas of Classicism and Romanticism, as well as in ecological matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interest in interdisciplinary work and team collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proficiency in the college&#8217;s languages German and English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Postdoctoral applicants should also present an outstanding dissertation, along with initial presentation and publication activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Application Documents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A one to two-page motivational letter explaining the reasons for pursuing the planned doctoral or postdoctoral project, demonstrating expectations from a Mini Graduate College and convincing statements about interdisciplinary work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Curriculum vitae and academic certificates (high school diploma, MA, state examination, transcript of records for all courses in the master&#8217;s program, equivalent foreign degrees, and Ph.D. for postdocs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If possible, a list of publications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If necessary, language proficiency certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A project outline (approximately 5\u20137 pages) for a project tailored to the college&#8217;s theme and methodology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A work sample (e.g., master&#8217;s thesis, dissertation for postdocs) and an abstract (approximately 1 page) of the work sample.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Identification of two university professors who can provide information about personal suitability and academic qualifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further details of the research and study program of the Mini Graduate College are available by&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:AESTHOEK1800@uni-mainz.de\">AESTHOEK1800@uni-mainz.de<\/a>&nbsp;on request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The university aims to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and encourages qualified female academics to apply.
