Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The world of work\/ Le monde du travail<\/li><li>The factory\/ L\u2019usine<\/li><li>The industrial revolution\/ La r\u00e9volution industrielle<\/li><li>Domestic work\/ Le travail domestique<\/li><li>Saint-Simonianism \/ Le Saint-Simonisme<\/li><li>Manual work\/ Le travail manuel<\/li><li>Sex work\/Le travail du sexe<\/li><li>Bosses and masters \/ Les patron\u00b7ne\u00b7s et les ma\u00eetres<\/li><li>Unfree labour\/ Le travail forc\u00e9<\/li><li>The black market\/Le march\u00e9 noir<\/li><li>The cooperative model\/ Le mod\u00e8le coop\u00e9ratif<\/li><li>Customers and commerce\/ Les client\u00b7e\u00b7s et le commerce<\/li><li>The fruits of industry\/ Les fruits de l\u2019industrie<\/li><li>Pollution, noise, smoke \/ La pollution, le bruit, la fum\u00e9e<\/li><li>Fuel, coal, steam \/ Le combustible, le charbon, la vapeur<\/li><li>The industrial sublime \/ Le sublime industriel<\/li><li>Crafted objects\/ Les objets artisanaux<\/li><li>Tools of the trade\/ Les outils du m\u00e9tier<\/li><li>Workers\u2019 rights\/ Les droits des travailleurs et des travailleuses<\/li><li>Industrial art\/ L\u2019art industriel<\/li><li>Artistic work\/ Le travail esth\u00e9tique<\/li><li>Arts and crafts\/ Arts et m\u00e9tiers<\/li><li>Art and mechanical reproduction\/ L\u2019art et la reproduction m\u00e9canique Industrial architecture \/ L\u2019architecture industrielle<\/li><li>Rail networks \/ Les r\u00e9seaux ferroviaires<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to papers and panels linked to the conference theme, we invite submissions for panels or roundtables on the challenges and\/or opportunities encountered in research OR teaching OR public-facing work in the area of French\/ francophone nineteenth-century studies. Work-in-progress or ten-minute papers are warmly welcomed for these panels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>200-word proposals in English or French (for both 20-minute individual papers and for entire panels) should be submitted by 1st December 2026 at: <a href=\"https:\/\/uksdn.co.uk\/submit-an-abstract\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/uksdn.co.uk\/submit-an-abstract\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please indicate your academic situation (doctoral student, independent researcher, lecturer\u2026) on your proposal.
