We’re glad to announce that registration for BARS 2024 is now open. Registration can be completed using this Eventbrite page, and details of the process are available on the conference website.
The Full Conference in-person attendance fee (£200/£140) covers the digital elements in addition to the Glasgow days. It includes tea breaks and lunches on the three in-person days of the Glasgow academic programme (Tuesday 23rd July to Thursday 25th July) and the civic drinks reception at Glasgow City Chambers on Tuesday 23rd July, kindly hosted by the Lord Provost and Glasgow City Council.
The conference dinner at Òran Mór on Wednesday 24th July must be booked as an additional extra through BARS (£65). If you are booking the conference dinner, please enter details at the relevant point in the Eventbrite booking form so we can connect up your dinner booking and your dietary requirements. The post-conference trip to New Lanark on Friday 26th July can be added as an extra when making your Eventbrite booking. This costs £25, which covers transport between the University of Glasgow and New Lanark and admission to the site (lunch can be brought with you or purchased at the pleasant café).
There are options to attend for a single day for those with clashing commitments (£100/£70). Single-day in-person attendance also includes the digital elements. Day rates include tea breaks and lunch on the day you attend, and the drinks reception if you book for Tuesday 23rd July. Day delegates are welcome to book for the dinner or the trip if they wish.
Digital Elements Only registration (£45/£30) includes access to the synchronous online sessions on 1st and 2nd August. It also includes access to recordings of the digital panels and of elements of the in-person conference (which we are asking in-person participants to provide on a limited-time, opt-in basis); these will be available for around a month (restricted to delegates).
We are offering concessionary rates for unwaged, postgraduate, part-time and impermanent, or retired delegates. If you are unsure whether you are eligible for the concessionary rate, please contact us on BARSConf2024@gmail.com with details of your circumstances.

We’ve recently updated the conference site (https://bars.ac.uk/conference2024/) with an outline programme (to give a sense of the shape of the conference) and details of accommodation options (including cheap options in university halls). We’ll be adding more details on the plenaries and other sessions in due course.
Registration for the conference dinner closes on Friday 14th June; registration for the conference closes on Friday 5th July. If you’re planning to attend the conference, we’d be very grateful if you can register as soon as you can; this will help us gauge final numbers and make sure that we can accommodate dietary requirements and accessibility needs. We’ll send reminders when the deadlines are coming up, and further information on the programme as this becomes available.
