We are pleased to announce that registration for the 2026 BARS Conference, Romantic Retrospection, hosted by the University of Birmingham, is now open.

*To clarify re Concessionary registration fees, these apply to unwaged, postgraduate, part-time and impermanent, or retired delegates*
The draft programme (below) will also be available on the site soon, and further changes to the programme will be uploaded there.
The in-person conference will take place from Wednesday 29th July to Friday 31st July, with welcome events on the Tuesday evening and an optional conference excursion on the Saturday. It will include keynote lectures from Mary Favret, Ruth Abbott, and Richard Cronin as well as special sessions featuring Kevis Goodman, Jonathan Sachs, and Jon Mee. To mark the centenary of Ernest de Selincourt’s edition of Wordsworth’s thirteen-book Prelude (1926), there will be a display of his working papers, and the conference dinner will take place at The Grand Hotel, Birmingham.
The online conference is on Thursday 6th August (registration for which is included in the in-person registration fee). Our online keynote lecturer is Nikki Hessell. The programme of online papers will be circulated soon.
