Next week, the University of Birmingham hosts the British Association for Romantic Studies international conference. The conference theme, Romantic Retrospection, has led to a diverse range of papers, sessions, and roundtables, covering a variety of topics, authors, and approaches. We have panels on everything from literary editing, life writing, and translation studies to digital Romanticism, Queer literary adaptations, and ecological criticism. This is an international conference in the reach of its sessions: as well as hosting delegates from 5 continents, we have panels on German, Scottish, Irish, Italian, Scandinavian, and Spanish Romanticism, as well as the neo-Romanticism of writers from J.R.R Tolkien to Michael O’Neill.
We have around 250 delegates already signed up, but you can still register if you would like to attend — whether for all 3 days, or at a discounted 1-day rate. If you are unable to make it to Birmingham next week, but would like to be involved with the BARS conference, we also have the online conference taking place on Thursday 6th August, which can be registered for separately.
